What was your favorite family vacation as a child?

I am a huge roller coaster fanatic, so the couple times we went to Cedar Point definitley ranks up there. We also went to Hilton Head Island in SC over a half a dozen times for spring break. It was a 'girls' only, so different cousins and aunts and random family friends that I didn't see all that often would come every year. It was a week to just sit on the beach, worship the sun (not good I know) eat, and chill.

We went to the Himalayas and we were in a helicopter. It was amazing because they opened the side doors as we flew through a valley in Northern Pakistan

Every summer we'd do the same thing -- drive around the mountains in Arkansas and my mom would say how wonderful it would be to live in some of the old houses we saw. She instilled a great love for the beauty of Arkansas in me. Driving around with her in the country was just the best feeling and I grew up dreaming about old country houses in the hills. My dream came true, plus we moved my mom next door to us, so now every day is like those wonderful vacations as a child.

When I was 15, and my siblings were 16, 12 and 10, we went on a 5 week camping trip out west with the pop-up camper. Visited all of the major National Parks and family living in CA and WA. I remember standing at the Pacific Ocean for the first time, and learning to sail with my Uncle and cousins in Couer 'd'Alene, Idaho. We even took our dog, Shadow (that caused some problems) Your Grandma & Gradpa were pretty daring to attempt such a long camping trip! But, hey, I didn't have to do any of the planning/worrying/logistics, I could just enjoy the scenery! I am sure my love for theh outdoors, hiking, the National Parks and mountains was established during this trip.

I would say out trip west when I was 12. Went through the Dakotas and ended up in CA with relatives, Disney Land and Sea World, Tiajuna, back through the desert and all. Great trip.

I don't care if it's typical, my answer without a doubt is Disney World. I had never in my life, before then or now, experienced something that felt so magical. I would probably even go back now!

Park City, UT Summer of 2004. I understand that your really suppose to go in the winter to do the skiing thing. But it was great to do it in the summer. My favorite part of the trip was doing this rip cord thing where you take the ski lift up to the top of the mountain and ride this cord down. It’s like you are at a Birds eye view it was amazing. I would go back during the summer or maybe during the winter any time.

A month long van trip to Boulder, CO. We only took 3 trips as kids...amusement parks didn't count, they were a summer staple. But Boulder, hanging with frinds of the family, actually getting to go out to eat at a restaurant, climbing mountains, seeingh true wilderness for the first time. I think I was 10.
